This story was tightly written and well paced. It's great that you managed to address the mother-son issue, which was always hinted at in the series with reference to both Kougaiji and Dokugakuji, so impactfully with so few words. I really enjoyed how the story structure and mood reflect Dokugakuji's character. He doesn't say very much, but what he does say is always of important meaning. And there always seems to be something painful, dark and unsaid beneath his warm exterior. Please write more, I think Kougaiji and his champion are far too neglected in fanfiction, thanks for sharing :D
