In spring, Kanan takes to pushing the weeds out and clearing the dead leaves and branches.

"I can’t imagine what these poor things would do without me,” she laughs, as she tends to the short pale buds clustering the ground, “could you imagine what they would be without me?”

He smiles at her, warm and grateful and hers, “A mess,” Cho Gonou whispers into her ears, “A great, giant, weed-filled, mess. We’ll have to make sure that we always keep the garden tended. I’d hate to lose the tiger lilies.”

“I hope we always have the garden. Even with weeds.”
