Dakugakuji says I’m silly, because I’m a girl. But I know girls know best. Girls know birds, the sky, and words. Lots.
I know that onii-chan loves his mother the best. And Yaone loves onii-chan the best. And Dakugakuji loves his brother the best, maybe onii-chan, a little, too. I know I love onii-chan best. But who loves Lirin best?
I think that onii-chan can make room for me in his heart, someplace just for me. So I love him lots, love him hard, because I know best.
I know birds and skies and words.
Silly things, girls, he says.

In spring, Kanan takes to pushing the weeds out and clearing the dead leaves and branches.
"I can’t imagine what these poor things would do without me,” she laughs, as she tends to the short pale buds clustering the ground, “could you imagine what they would be without me?”
He smiles at her, warm and grateful and hers, “A mess,” Cho Gonou whispers into her ears, “A great, giant, weed-filled, mess. We’ll have to make sure that we always keep the garden tended. I’d hate to lose the tiger lilies.”
“I hope we always have the garden. Even with weeds.”

Kanzeon Bosatsu, Merciful God(dess), smiled upon the world. Then se checked her list.
"What's this?" Hir Benevolance asked, pointing to two neatly labeled charts. "Did someone not get the memo? The pig's supposed to be the lech. It kind of goes with the whole pig theme. The kappa is supposed to be the relatively good one. Tell me why I'm surrounded by incompetance? Five seconds. Go."
"Your Majestic One! There was a mistake in the copying room and their personalities have been switched and-"
"And the dragon ate a car instead of a horse, now it has four-wheel drive. Well, that's just super."
