I can definitely see sanzo thinking that way, but it makes me sad for him. Most of the time I practically hate the bastard, but I know how he is inside. He is a contradiction.

See, what's so fascinating to me about Sanzo's character (sadly, something I only became aware of when I started writing fanfiction featuring him) are his blatant contradictions. He seems to want kindness, and love, but does everything in his power to push those things aside. He only permits himself little smiles on the occasion, the slightest shows of affection--then he locks them all away. And the more the series goes on, the less frequent these moments become, until towards the end, he never smiles at all. And a central factor in him completely shutting himself off would be such close and constant proximity to Goku. You have portrayed all of that in an elegant and paradoxical manner that's completely true to his character. You even managed to present the only good reason I have ever heard for Sanzo ever being uke, by the by. ^_^; Very, very, very well-done.

Author's Response: My sister & I were discussing that just today, how Sanzo is a complete paradox, how he contradicts himself... and she's also one of the few people who agrees with me on Sanzo being uke for Goku. *lol* I'm so beyond thrilled that you thought I captured him well, because Sanzo is so hard to get on paper - he acts out there & blatant, but really, he's so subtle... It's just amazing to me. Probably one of the reasons I love him so much. ^_^ And thank -you- so much for your kind review; you're really making a habit of bringing a huge smile to my face. ^___^
