This was poignant and sweet. Couldn't stop thinking about this way after I read it. Thank you.

ok what's in a name...as written in the manga, hakkai's name is ha as in eight and kai is to mean and admonishment or warning(something he alludes that Gojyo is to him) however hakai does mean also literally "breaking the(Buddhist) commandments" (another dig here as one of those i think is the not taking of life law) and can thus also be taken to mean destruction. however the Ha in that version of hakkai is not the character used in minekura's version of ha (which in this case is literally the no. eight as in hachi) but both are pronounced exactly the same way and so if Yukiko only heard the name and had no idea how it was written...technically she isn't wrong...and at the end of it all we have a lovely play on words and endless possibilities. sorry for that i know i left a review already but i thought i would add my two cents worth on this.

Author's Response: w00t for wordplays and such! ^_^ Thanks for all the great info. Perhaps it would have helped if I knew fuckall about Japanese characters, but since I was also going off the pronunciations... bah. So everybody wins and we get fun puns on words. I think Minekura-sama would laugh her ass off if she knew.

Ahaha! Your OFC's are wonderful. I particularly enjoyed your reference to them as "rainbow fish." I know that Hakkai was named so for the "cleansing" he went through, but the fact that it means "destruction" in Japanese makes me think that it's also a reminder to what he's done.

Author's Response: ^_^ Thanks for liking it! I honestly had no idea that Hakkai's name could mean "cleansing". That makes, what, three possible puns that revolve around his name?

This is awesome. Very funny in a quite sophisticated way. I'd love to read a sequel, if you write one. Oh by the way, I don't think "Hakkai" means destruction, at least not in Chinese. It means the "8 ways of cleansing" as in the monks give up 8 sins to cleanse themselve so they could reach enlightenment.

Author's Response: "Hakkai" means "destruction" in Japanese. I know a family who used to breed Akitas, and they named one of their puppies Hakkai because destruction was her forte. ^^; I didn't know its Chinese meaning, though. That's fascinating stuff. There is a sequel, actually, which has not been approved by the moddies yet. It is available on my mediaminer.org account, where I go by Princess of Pain, and on my deviantArt.com account, where I'm itainohime. ^_^; I'm really glad you liked it.

hey there i'm glad this one is over here now. i wanted to put in a review over at mediaminer but it was to difficult. and then when i did manage to leave one there was a character counter...but i just wanted to say"Buddha with a Bullet" priceless, and sanzo manages to sneak in there as well. and as i've said before this is a nice story from someoneelses point of view. thanks for sharing...when is chap 3 up hehehehe! sorry apart from having a siyuki addiction... i love 58/85 pairings. there is something just sooo right about them. anyway 'nuff said love zan

Author's Response: I'd like to take credit for "Buddha with a bullet", but the line was actually adapted by my girlfriend. It was originally "Jesus Christ with a bullet", which she said was too Western. I deferred to her better judgement. ^^; Chapter 3, I haven't started working on yet, though this website's gonna get the unedited (x-rated) version of if. Bwaha.
